Jugaad – The Key to Innovation

Jugaad –

Refers to attaining any objective with the available resources at hand.

believe me you, one day when India becomes a superpower will be the day we have pioneered “Jugaad”. “Jugaad” is the key to minimal efforts reaping maximum benefits.

Not in a bad way though. For example, We label jugaad to anything which is a by-product of our procrastination. These days, in general. However, originally any “Jugaad” done by Indians was their simplest approach towards complex problems. In the west, ” Benjamin Franklin ” @Benjamin and “Wright Brothers” were jugaadu innovators. if I may say so.(those who have read their stories will understand)

In India, We have unrecognized innovations which exist in present light of the day, yet go unnoticed, in spite of their sheer brilliance. “Chhakda”, for instance, is a three wheeled commuting vehicle, prevalent in remote countrysides of Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra. the dire need to travel to-and-fro frequently, in huge numbers with minimum cash at hand gave rise to a new type of vehicle). It was need of the hour which gave rise to inception of Chhakda. this is mere one example. Google “Jugaad” and see wondrous items and machines at glance.

Its pointless to explain you what it is  i know you see it all around you. Its omnipresent. Yet, we hardly pay heed to what a Jugaad can reap. It is THE key to innovation in 21st century when resources are getting exhausted exponentially, and we have minimum options at hand.

Its time we gave importance to our capabilities. We are natural at improvisation. that is how we have evolved and sustained until Now.
