A woman was wearing a nose-ring.
The scientist said it has no scientific basis. A rationalist mocked her for mutilating her body in the name of beauty. Another rationalist pointed out that it was an ancient acupuncture technique. A feminist said that she was sporting the symbol of patriarchy. A secularist said that made her a Hindu. A nationalist said that made her Indian. A traditionalist said she was upholding cultural values. A monk said she should give up symbols of vanity. An artist loved her creativity. A doctor suspected infection and need for minor surgery. A trader saw an opportunity to sell more jewels. A lawyer felt it is her right to wear nose-ring. Many women envied her. A few men moaned why men are not allowed to wear nose-rings.
Everybody saw the nose-ring. No one saw her.
